KSC Receives TMEA Grant

Kenya Shippers Council (KSC) has received a grant of $ 432,000 from TradeMark East Africa’s Country Office programme, with the grant agreement signed on 29th June 2011.  

Through TMEA financial support, Kenya Shippers Council (KSC) will:

Develop and implement strategies to reduce the cost of transport on the Northern Corridor
Expand the Council’s membership base and achieve sustainability.
Build on the current technical support provided by TMEA (The E-Regulations Portal Project) to establish KSC as a one-stop information centre for transport, logistics and trade information.
Begin the process of  transforming to a regional body, the  Shippers Council of East Africa (SCEA)
 
Kenya Shippers Council is excited about this partnership with TradeMark East Africa which is expected to develop strategies that will reduce the cost of transport on the Northern Corridor. TradeMark will be a key partner in establishing KSC as a one-stop information centre for transport, logistics and trade information”, said Gilbert Langat, KSC Chief Executive. 
 
TMEA is a multi-donor organization funded by a range of development agencies to promote regional trade and economic integration in East Africa by working closely with East African Community (EAC) institutions, national governments, and business and civil society organizations.  
 
TMEA seeks to support East African integration by unlocking economic potential through:
Reducing costs of transport along the key corridors in East Africa;
Supporting EAC institutions to develop a comprehensive framework for regional integration;
Supporting partner states to substantially increase the implementation of a comprehensive framework for regional integration; and
Engaging private sector and civil society to positively influence regional integration policies and practices for growth in trade.
